New Recurly Cancellation Handling Setting

We’ve rolled out a new setting for you to choose when you want customers to be considered canceled for our Recurly integration! Now, if you cancel your customer's subscriptions at the term's end, you can opt in to let subscriptions stay active until the end of their billing period instead of canceling immediately. This means your customers will contribute to MRR and be active until their terms end—making things much smoother if you have a majority of annual subscriptions.

To enable this setting, you'll need to ask in chat!

New Attributes for Charges

We just added four new attributes to use within segments to provide visibility into customer payment activity. Until now, segmenting customers based on revenue behavior was limited to broad metrics like total LTV. But we know that not all revenue is created equal. By distinguishing between subscription payments and one-time charges, you can unlock a much richer view of customer behavior.

With these new attributes, you can:

📈 Discover Loyal Subscribers — See which customers have been active for 12+ months.

📈 Spot High-Value Customers — Identify which customers contribute significantly to recurring or one-time revenue.

📈 Target Add-On Buyers — See who’s purchasing extra add-ons or upgrades.

📈 Pinpoint Dormant Customers — Find customers who made a single purchase but didn’t convert to a subscription.

Here’s what’s new:

  • Count: Recurring Charges 📅
Tracks the total number of recurring payments (subscriptions) a customer has made.
  • Count: One-Time Charges 🛒
Tracks the total number of one-time payments a customer has made.
  • Value: Recurring Charges 💰
Calculates the total value of all recurring payments made by a customer. (Note: This value is shown in your account's default currency, with no specific currency symbol applied.)
  • Value: One-Time Charges 💵
Calculates the total value of all one-time payments made by a customer. (Note: This value is shown in your account's default currency, with no specific currency symbol applied.)

Here are a few idea for segments you can create right away:

Find customers who have stayed subscribed for a significant period.

High-Value Subscribers
Identify subscribers who contribute significantly to recurring revenue.
Filter: Value of Recurring Charges ≥ $10,000

High-Value One-Time Purchasers

Filter: Value of One-Time Charges ≥ $500

Mixed Revenue Contributors
These customers contribute to both recurring and one-time revenue, indicating a well-rounded engagement with your offerings.
Filter: Count of Recurring Charges ≥ 6 AND Value of One-Time Charges ≥ $300

Subscription Loyalists (No Add-Ons)
These subscribers have stuck to a subscription plan but haven't made any one-time purchases.
Filter: Count of Recurring Charges ≥ 12 AND Count of One-Time Charges = 0

Dormant One-Time Buyers
These customers made a one-time purchase but did not subscribe.
Filter: Count of Recurring Charges = 0 AND Count of One-Time Charges ≥ 1

These new filters are ready for you to explore now

Introducing Automated Segmentation

We’ve just rolled out a handy new feature to make gaining insights into your subscription data even easier—say hello to auto-segmentation! 🎉

We'll now automatically group your customers based on which platform manages their subscriptions. Whenever you connect a new data source, we’ll handle the grouping for you. This simplifies spotting trends across platforms, understanding customer behavior, and fine-tuning your strategies.

This also lays the groundwork for future updates, bringing even more flexibility and ease of use to customer segmentation. Stay tuned for exciting enhancements ahead! 😉

New: Stripe Metadata & Customer Properties - Synced, Searchable, & Segmentable! 🎉

We’re pumped to bring you a new update that takes segmentation to the next level! Customer details like addresses, shipping info, and all that custom metadata you've added in Stripe will automatically turn into attributes in Baremetrics. 🧙‍♂️✨

What does this mean? In a nutshell, finding and analyzing your customer data just got way easier. Want to see which customers are in California? Or maybe check who has a shipping address listed in Canada? Done and done. Plus, removing any attribute in Stripe vanishes in Baremetrics, keeping your data fresh and clutter-free.

What’s included? Here's what we'll automatically convert into handy attributes for you (if available):

  • Customer basics: description, phone, default currency, currency, city, country, postal code, and state.
  • Shipping details: shipping name, shipping phone, shipping city, shipping country, shipping postal code, and shipping state.
  • And every bit of Stripe metadata you create!

Give It a Spin! Start creating segments with these fields, and watch how much more connected you feel to your customers. From super-specific geo campaigns to VIP segments and personal outreach, this feature is here to make your data-driven dreams come true. Try it out, and let us know what cool segments you come up with!

New Anonymization Setting

We've introduced a new 'anonymize' setting to enhance data privacy. When enabled, this setting will hide all sensitive customer information, such as names, emails, and phone numbers, for Stripe, Braintree, Chargebee, and Recurly integrations.

This means you can sync customer data without worrying about exposing personal details, making it easier to comply with data protection regulations. Enjoy increased data security and privacy with this new option.

To turn this feature on, simply request Anonymization from our support team.

Support for Multi-Currency Xero Accounts (Forecast+)

We're excited to announce support for non-US multi-currency accounts in Xero. 💼🔥Thanks to this update, customers outside the US will experience much smoother operations and better clarity on your financials within Forecast+.

Looking ahead, we see many possibilities for further enhancing our multi-currency and regional support. We can't wait to explore these opportunities and bring more value to your experience. 🙌

Improvements over Q1 & Q2👏

We are excited to announce several backend improvements we've made to enhance the user experience with Baremetrics. Here's how we've spent our time:

  1. Stripe Test Mode Enabled: We've added a new feature that allows you to use Stripe test mode. With this feature, you can import Stripe test data, which will help you create and manage testing accounts with ease. This feature will enhance your ability to test different scenarios and obtain more precise insights when making crucial updates.
  2. Enhanced Clearbit Integration: Previously, customers reported inconsistencies with our Clearbit integration. We've taken your feedback into account and have implemented updates to our Clearbit integration to ensure a smoother, more efficient experience. Now, our system will handle Clearbit API calls directly to prevent overloading, improving the overall performance and reliability of the integration. We've also adjusted the number of emails enqueued per sync worker-run, ensuring we're maintaining a healthier communication balance with Clearbit.
  3. Updated Shopify Fees for a Clearer Overview: Based on your feedback and our ongoing improvements, we've revised the way Shopify fees are calculated in our tool. Like other providers such as Stripe, Shopify processing fees are now included in the fees metric, providing a more comprehensive view! 🎉
  4. Enhanced Invoice Processing for BAC Payments: Building on our previous updates, where we started disregarding invoices in a 'pending' state and ceased creating states for invoices in 'processing', the system will now only flag an invoice as delinquent after more than one payment attempt. 🕵️‍♂️ We believe you'll find this update particularly useful if you're using the BAC system for payments. No more incorrect flags for unpaid invoices while your transaction is simply awaiting approval. This update should make the process smoother and worry-free! 👌

We'll continue refining and expanding our features based on the feedback you provide. Enjoy the latest update and let us know what you think!
